Applecross Smokehouse Recipes
Irish Soda Bread
Ingredients:
175g plain wholemeal flour.
150g medium oatmeal.
1 tsp brown sugar.
1 tsp salt.
1 tsp bicarbonate of soda.
1 egg (beaten).
284ml buttermilk.
Method:
Place all the ingredients together into a large bowl and beat.
Line a deep 7"- 8" loose bottom cake tin and pour in the mixture.
Preheat the oven to 170-180 degrees centigrade or Gas Mark 3-4.
Bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown and firm to the touch.
Delicious served with our smoked salmon or sea trout pate. Alternatively serve buttered, with smoked haddock soup.
